Active and Maintained: APIs should have active development and maintenance, evidenced by a GitHub repository with activity within the last two years, a contact us form or any other way to communicate with the developers. c. Publicly Accessible: APIs should be publicly accessible with clear documentation on how to use them. d. Purpose and Utility: APIs should serve a clear purpose and provide a utility that is beneficial to the developer community and/or businesses. e. Platform Compatibility: APIs should be compatible with a range of platforms and programming languages to ensure accessibility for a diverse range of users. f. Legal and Ethical Compliance: APIs must comply with all relevant laws and regulations and adhere to ethical guidelines for software development. APIs will be excluded from our directory if they meet any of the following conditions: a. Lack Standalone Functionality: APIs that exclusively serve a purpose with another piece of software and do not function independently. b. Inactive or Unmaintained: APIs with GitHub repositories that have not had any activity within the last two years. c. Limited Accessibility: APIs that are not publicly accessible or have unclear, incomplete, or inaccurate documentation. d. Malicious or Harmful: APIs that are designed to cause harm or facilitate malicious activities, such as hacking, data theft, or invasion of privacy. e. Discriminatory or Offensive: APIs that promote or facilitate discrimination, hatred, or offensive content based on race, gender, religion, or any other protected characteristic. f. Intellectual Property Violations: APIs that infringe on the intellectual property rights of others, such as copyrighted content or patented technologies. g. Gambling and Sports Betting: APIs related to gambling, sports betting, or any other forms of wagering or betting. These include but are not limited to online casinos, sportsbooks, poker sites, lotteries, and daily fantasy sports.
